The Mood Today
Right now, designers have moved past the initial 'AI panic' and are using it practically, even if they're still pretty skeptical.
While it helps with efficiency, there's a big trust gap. People use AI for brainstorming and rough mockups, but they hesitate to trust it for production-ready code or final accessibility checks.
There's also a lot of 'tool fatigue' from managing Figma AI credits and dealing with a crowded plugin ecosystem. Overall, designers are trying to bring back the human touch. Since AI handles the repetitive pixel-pushing, designers are focusing heavily on strategy, emotional design, and complex problem-solving to stay relevant.
